MEET MERCEDES EDNEY.
Edney runs Ixora, an affordable skincare line, and tweets under the handle Skin Care Genie. Last month, she began fundraising to help cover her tuition for the Academy of Nail Technology and Esthetics.
“I wanted to further my skin care knowledge by getting my license in esthetics,” she wrote. “The issue is that because of my current job, the only school that I can attend does not have financial aid and the scholarships that I have looked at, you have to already be enrolled in school and/or be half way through to even be eligible so that isn’t of much help to me either.”

Edney’s target was $5,995. Before Saturday she had raised a few hundred dollars.
Enter Chrissy Teigen.
The model, cookbook author and all-round good egg took it upon herself to pay off the rest of Edney’s tuition and wrote, “I’ve seen this be your passion for such a long time. So excited to see you fulfill your dream!”
Mercedes was nothing short of *elated*.

While Teigen reiterated her earlier desire to see Mercedes live out her dream.
Edney later stated that it was a dream come true and thanked Teigen for helping alleviate the financial burden.
She just took so much stress off of me. I also get to move into a better space to expand my business!
