TWO PEOPLE HAD to be taken to hospital this morning after a tent fire at Electric Picnic.

The blaze happened at the Pink Moon campsite area, to which gardaí were called at around 5am after reports of a fire.

A man and a woman who were in the tent at the time were both left needing hospital treatment.

The woman, in her late 30s, was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise and later had to be transferred to St James’s Hospital in Dublin. However, gardaí said her injuries are not life-threatening.

The man was not seriously injured. He was treated in the Midlands Regional Hospital but later released.

Gardaí said the scene of the fire has been preserved, but the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
