Eleven year-old Mason Ramsey took the internet by storm with his performance of Hank Williams Snr’s ‘Love Sick Blues’ at his local Walmart in Golconda, Illinois.

Here’s the original.

The clip spawned countless memes, as well as videos that saw people putting their own unique spin on Ramsey’s unique talents.

… Including this one.

This week, Ellen Degeneres invited the new country superstar on to her show this week for an interview and a  very special performance.

He’d never been on an airplane before flying out to Los Angeles, but he found the limousine ride to be more exciting still.

On the reasoning behind performing at Walmart, his answer was simple:

Well, it’s ’cause that’s the only store we’ve got.”

Can’t fault that logic. He estimated that he’d perform there about 50,000 times.

However, he does have bigger dreams – to one day perform at the Grand Ole Opry, a weekly country-music stage concert in Nashville, Tennessee. Following that, he plans on saving up all his money to go to college, moving to Florida and ‘work his way up in a motor home’. As modest as he is adorable!

Given that this is The Ellen Degeneres Show, and Ellen has a habit of making things happen, we knew what was coming next.

Ellen sorted him out with a performer’s pass for the Grand Ole Oprey, as well as organising a massive concert for him at the place where it all began – the Walmart in his home town.

And on top of THAT, Walmart gave Mason a $15,000 scholarship for college. That’ll keep him yodelling!
