Football fans burn down ticket booths over sold out match

Disappointed fans wanting to see a final between Indonesia v Malaysia had a novel way of expressing their frustration…

FRUSTRATED INDONESIA FOOTBALL fans, unable to get tickets to the final of a regional tournament, burned down ticket booths in Jakarta on Monday.

Tickets for the Indonesia v Malaysia SEA Games final had sold out by Sunday, but determined fans still turned up at the Bung Karno stadium the following day in the hopes of securing entry, Reuters reports.

Malay website TheStar online reported that at least two ticket booths were torched by frustrated crowds when they were told that no more tickets were available.

And, for those planning to support the host country, there’s a bit more bad news: Malaysia won.
