The 8 best desserts in Galway

*drools*

FROM LIGHT AND fresh to decadent and indulgent, Galway has desserts to beat the band. Here are a few of the best.

1. Carrot cake at The Kitchen

Facebook Facebook

Lunch in The Kitchen is always a treat, even more so when it’s paired with a huge slice of their extremely delicious and light carrot cake. Served with a dollop of cream, it turns lunch into an experience.

2. Coconut and strawberry cake at Cupan Tae

Cupan Tae’s collection of desserts offers a fresh take on traditional pairings. Its coconut and strawberry cake with coconut frosting, infused with oolong tea may be a mouthful, but it’s a delicious one.

3. Pistachio cake at Kai

Cakes that are green may make you think twice, but we are still dreaming about a pistachio sponge cake with buttercream icing from over a year ago. All their desserts are wonderful, but this cake is the stuff dreams are made of. So delicious.

4. Lemon slice at McCambridge’s

McCambridge’s was a tough decision: they have an excellent peanut butter cookie, but their lemon slices are moist and zingy, just exactly as they should be. Enjoy in one of their nice window seats with a good cup of tea.

5. Churros at Cava Bodega

Cava Bodega’s churrosare nothing short of superb. Freshly made and served on a board with hot chocolate sauce, chocolate ice cream and the most honey flavoured honeycomb. Make sure you leave room for some after dinner!

6. Nutella cake at Corrib House Tea Rooms

Corrib House Tea Rooms has a nutella cake. Yes, a nutella cake. A rich, chocolatey slice of joy in lovely surroundings, this is one to try if you need a serious perking up.

7. Chocolate and vanilla ice cream crepe at Java’s

Java’s has a brilliant choice of cakes, but crepes are a special kind of dessert and they are really well done here. Try the chocolate and vanilla ice cream crepe with chocolate sauce and thank us later.

8. Chocolate tiffin square at Food for Thought

For a quick cake on the go, Food for Thought has little chocolate tiffin squares, that don’t even feel like a dessert. Ideal for a sugar hit in a hurry.
