A Dublin hotel has come up with an afternoon tea especially for lads

Introducing the Gentleman’s Tea. (There’s no tea.)

GOING FOR A spot of Afternoon Tea is a popular day out for gals of all ages.

Scones, cakes, clotted cream, pots of tea — it’s all very glam.

And with Father’s Day coming up, The Morrison Hotel has come up with an alternative for the menfolk of Dublin called the Gentleman’s Tea.

Here it is in all its glory.

What’s in the Gentleman’s Tea, you ask?

Well, for one thing, there’s no tea. (Men’s fingers are too big for the delicate cup handles, you see.) Instead, the Gentleman’s Tea is served with a pint of Wicklow Wolf beer.

In keeping with the theme of manliness, the menu consists of, well, a lot of meat.

Instead of cucumber sandwiches, we have…

  • Smoked rasher and cheddar scone, apple chutney
  • Pork sausage, pickled gherkin and jalapeno skewer
  • Steak sandwich
  • Paprika chips
  • Beef slider

The meal costs €23 and there’s no word on whether ladies are allowed to eat it.

Speaking about the Gentleman’s Tea, Patrick Joyce, General Manager of the Morrison Hotel, said:

At The Morrison we aim to come up with different ideas to get people talking and more importantly, enjoying the fantastic creations from our Head Chef. No other hotel in the city is doing anything like our Gentlemen’s Tea so we are delighted that we are the first.
