EARLIER THIS WEEK, sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid were snapped as they made their way to work.
As per, the ladies were surrounded by multiple members of their security team, dozens of paparazzi and a few adoring fans just hoping to catch a glimpse.
They appeared as they usually do – perfectly preened and styled to appear in any magazine or online tabloid that might run with the pictures.
However this time, the pictures ended up on some higher brow sites than TMZ.
Vogue ran a whole story on the pictures and focused on one aspect in particular – the books they were carrying.
The sisters were both pictured carrying their latest reads and apparently, it’s big news.
Yes, reportedly the rest of us are at home ‘glued to our smartphones’ and killing our brain cells while the Hadids are over her feeding theirs ‘the old fashioned way’.
The books they are reading were described with the type of detail normally reserved for the Balenciaga bum bags they wear or the latest celebrity they’re rumoured to be dating – both equally news-worthy topics.
They say Bella “artfully showcased the fire-engine red hardback cover, complete with ominous silhouette of a man holding an unidentified object, alongside her hand which was clad in an appropriately creepy lime green glove”.
Whereas Gigi’s “famous black and white graphic cover” was apparently “just the right match for her fashion-forward suit, cut above the knee in the palest shade of yellow”.
Congrats, ladies!
The New York Post also shared the pictures in a post for their fashion section which ran under the headline, ‘Bella and Gigi make books the hot new accessory of 2019’.
They’re fashion models so therefore it’s the only possible reason as to why they might be carrying books, right?
There’s simply no way they’d be caught dead reading an actual book because they’re models, and models just model, right?

So, with that in mind, here are five other accessories – apologies, we mean books – Gigi and Bella could carry on their next outing.
1. Fashion for Dummies
According to these headlines, the Hadid sisters’ main motivation for having books on them is purely fashion so this could come in handy.
Yes, fashion is hard so Gigi and Bella will need to study up to make sure they keep setting those trends.
2. The Handmaid’s Tale
The women in this book aren’t even allowed to read so going by the New York Post’s logic, it seems fitting that the girls would carry these simply as their handbag.
3. Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman
Don’t worry if the mention of books being just an accessory for women results in lots of shrill shrieking from women of the internet, that’s just us being loud.
4. Feminists Don’t Wear Pink (and other lies)
You know what’s not a lie?
Models might actually carry books for a reason that doesn’t have something to do with accessorising.
5. The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k
The book the Hadids should actually read after seeing all these ridiculous headlines about them using books merely as accessories.
However, with the pair worth an estimated $25million between them, they probably don’t give a f*ck already.
