Those headlines accusing Gigi Hadid of 'lashing out' on the street are being rightly slated

#TeamGigi

WELL, THIS IS a little bit terrifying.

Yesterday model Gigi Hadid was walking through Milan when a man approached her from behind and physically lifted her off the ground.

Hadid elbowed the man in the face and could be heard shouting, “Let go of me!”

(If you can’t see the video, please click here.)

The man in question turned out to be Vitalii Sendiuk, a Ukrainian media personality who has previous form in this. He has previously shoved Kim Kardashian on the street as she exited a fashion show and attempted to kiss Will Smith on the red carpet.

Despite the fact that it’s mildly terrifying to find yourself being lifted up by a stranger on the street, here is how 3AM and The Daily Mail opted to report the story.

People on Twitter were quick to point out that it wasn’t so much a case of ‘lashing out’ but rather a woman protecting herself from being manhandled by a stranger.

Following the incident, Gigi Hadid took to Twitter to defend herself and dismissed the notion that the man in question was a ‘fan’.

Needless to say, everyone is #TeamGigi on this one.

As for Sediuk? He issued a statement via Instagram in which he described the incident as a “protest”.

While I consider Gigi Hadid beautiful, she and her friend Kendall Jenner, have nothing to do with high fashion. By doing this I encourage fashion industry to put true talents on the runway and Vogue covers instead of well-connected cute girls from Instagram. You can call it a manifest or a protest. This is also a wake up call for Anna Wintour who turned Vogue into tabloid by putting Kardashians and other doubtful celebrities on a cover of a well-respected magazine.

*world’s biggest eye roll*

Maybe just write a letter to the editor next time, yeah?
