Beauty Q: Do you wash your hair before going to the hairdressers?

Be honest.

IF YOU KNOW me, you’ll know I’m a woman who likes getting good value for money. I regularly buy BOGOFs when I don’t need them because … Well, how can you turn down getting something for free?

I’m not quite at the Extreme Coupon-stage of my life yet, but I have been known to wile away my Boots points “in case of an emergency”, eyelash-related or otherwise. And yes, I am that person that sends you referrals links from a survey website that gives you approximately 1c per survey. Sure, doesn’t it all add up?

When it comes to my beauty regimen, my practices are similar. If I’m getting my nails done, I try and keep on top of my appointments and get refills, as opposed to starting the whole laborious process over again. I am a divil for seeking out a cheap haircut, and can be regularly found perusing Facebook’s buy-and-sell section leaping on any trainee hairdresser “in need of someone for T bar highlights”. I don’t even know what T bar highlights are!

On the off chance that I’ve decided to splurge on a bougie blowdry, I’m faced with a minor moral dilemma. I am paying someone to wash and dry my hair, so there is an onus on me to not turn up the salon resembling some kind of walking, talking can of Batiste dry shampoo.

But … Where’s the line? It doesn’t really make sense to fork over a reasonable amount of money for a wash-and-blowdry only to turn up with gleaming gruaig. No in my opinion, anyway.

With that said, you experience a level of discomfort sitting in a salon seat, swilling a prosecco, knowing that a stranger is about to run their hands through your five day old hair?

So tell me – do you wash your hair before going to the hairdressers?
