Hallelujah - Handel's Messiah takes to the street today

Warm up your vocal chords for this unique open-air event taking place today on site where famous choral composition was first performed in 1742.

HERE IS SOMETHING lovely to do if you are pottering around Dublin today. The annual celebration to mark the premiere of Handel’s Messiah in Dublin in 1742 will be taking place in Temple Bar, on the site of its original performance 270 years ago.

The Messiah On The Street choral performance takes place at 1pm in the Old City Area of Temple Bar, beside the original performance site of the old Musick Hall on Fishamble Street, where Messiah was first performed.

This special performance is free and will be conducted by Proinnsías Ó Duinn and performed by Our Lady’s Choral Society.

Here is a taster of what to expect today. Uplifting.
