PETER KIERNAN IS a badass. For one, he wrote a book called “Becoming China’s Bitch.” (It’s about America.) [h/t Dealbook]
But that’s just his most recently accomplishment, a look down Kiernan’s career will make anyone aspiring financiers jealous: over 20 years of experience on Wall Street—most of it as a partner at Goldman Sachs, starting a firm that funds start-ups, President of a billion dollar hedge fund and running Christopher Reeve’s (yes, Superman) philanthropic organisation.
With his most recent foray into writing, Kiernan is taking a path few retired Goldman Sachs partners have taken—becoming a “self-fashioned” political pundit, according to the DealBook profile on Kiernan.
The book “Becoming China’s Bitch” is about America’s relationship with China, but also contains Kiernan’s personal opinions on the political situation in America, Occupy Wall Street, gay marriage, etc. It’s certainly an eccentric and ambitious path, considering he could have just taken his Goldman riches, invested it and lived the rest of life in relaxing luxury.
Other characteristics that make Kiernan stand out to us? He has a shamrock tattoo on his butt—as the result of losing a bet with his son, and also has an adopted Vietnamese potbellied pig named Mojo. Badass.
