What's in my makeup bag? Holly White

Having a rummage through some of our favourite faces’ wares.

Each week, we’ll be taking a peek into some of our faves’ makeup bags to see their must-have products, because we’re nosey. This week, it’s the turn of vegan beauty blogger Holly White (

Her earliest makeup memories

“In terms of make up I’ve always loved that naturally polished look from the start. Occasionally I’ll try a smokey eye or a red lip, but my signature look would be mainly focused on getting my skin as glowy and healthy looking as possible.

I’m quite minimal and I’m always searching for the red lipstick, or the perfect foundation – I’m not trend driven at all.”

“One of the best investments I ever made was spending a week in Make Up Forever doing their Pro Artistry course. I did it just for myself but I think now with YouTube there’s so much confusion and it was great to actually get lessons in all the basics.

“I prioritise skincare products as much as make up as I think if your skin is prepped well it makes everything work better. I always use Yonka Hydra Number 1 serum and moisturiser.

“If I’ve an extra five minutes I will use their Gommage 305 which is a gel exfoliant and it’s so gentle and removes all the dead dull cells with no abrasion whatsoever. You get a glow no highlighter can beat!

“When I moved to cruelty free products there was a little adjustment as working in tv you need good coverage and pigments, but these are my absolute favourites and are in daily use.

“Foundation-wise, I adore mineral make up. It feels so much more comfortable on my skin and I love the idea that there can be health benefits. My top mineral foundation is Bare Minerals Bare Pro. I wear shade Warm Light 07. It gives amazing coverage and a dewy finish and also has SPF 20. It lasts and lasts all day long. I’m not the kind of person who wants to bring a whole make up bag out so it’s great to know I can apply this in the morning and it will be perfect till the evening.

“Bare Minerals also do a lipstick in shade XOX which is literally the most perfect nude lipstick. Everyone should try it. It gives you that kind of bitten look and it’s my go to day-to-day shade.

“I love a little bronze and contour and the Urban Decay Shapeshifter palette is brilliant. It has both cream and powder highlight and contour shades and a great little mirror. I’ll use the contour on my eyes as well. It’s very universal.

“Penneys have started doing brow products and they have a Brow Fibre gel which is really good as well and about 1/10th of the price of other products I’ve tried and just as good.

“In terms of mascara, Buxom is a company I discovered online and this mascara is fabulous! I’ve tried a lot of natural or vegan mascaras and they’re not great, this is cruelty free, lasts well and has the best wand. I love it!”
