The film, by Kerry writer/director Gerard Barrett, also stars Toni Collette as John’s alcoholic mother.

The film earned rave reviews at the film festival, with Indiewire singling out Reynor’s “career-making” performance:

Capturing the very essence of this troubled man, Reynor gives a moving performance that irradiates compassion and generosity towards all those he encounters… This is a career-making performance that while subdued, stands out because of its naturalistic humanity.

Next up for Reynor are film adaptations of Macbeth, with Michael Fassbender, and Sebastian Barry’s The Secret Scripture, with Rooney Mara and Vanessa Redgrave.
