John Galliano to check into rehab

The 50-year-old designer has said he intends to seek help for alcohol problems after being fired by the House of Dior and charged with making racist comments by French police.

DISGRACED FASHION DESIGNER John Galliano has announced that he will check himself into rehab after being fired by the House of Dior and charged with making racist comments by French police.

Galliano has apologised unreservedly for causing any offence by making the anti-Semitic comments at a Paris cafe. He says that he intends to seek treatment for alcohol problems at The Meadows Clinic in Arizona, RTÉ reports.

The 50-year-old designer faces a €22,000 fine and up to six months in prison for making the racist comments.

Galliano has been shunned by the fashion world since making the comments, reports the New York Daily News reports. Spokesperson for Dior and actress Natalie Portman said: “As an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr Galliano in any way.”
