What's in my makeup bag? Laura Young (Laura's Views)

Having a rummage through our favourite faces’ wares.

EACH WEEK, WE’LL be taking a peek into some of our faves’ makeup bags to see their must-have products, because we’re nosey. This week, it’s the turn of cruelty-free beauty YouTuber Laura Young, better known as Laura’s Views. You can follow her Instagram here and her YouTube  here.

“I think I’ve blocked my early makeup memories, they were THAT bad. During secondary school, in an effort to impress *eyeroll*, I would swipe a slick of glitter across my eyelids. BLUE glitter nonetheless.

I recall another phase where I would draw a thick WHITE pencil liner across my lids. Nothing else. Diabolical like but sure look, we can look back and giggle!

“I was never really big into makeup until I hit my late teens and early twenties, and here is a little glimpse at my ‘style’ then.

“Fast forward to now (I’m 31 today!), and I like to think I’ve learned a skill or two when it comes to makeup application.

I enjoy applying my makeup and wear a full face most days. It’s like therapy for me.

“I’ve also since switched to using only cruelty free brands, so if you thought you couldn’t get great quality products that do not test on animals, read ahead!

“Here is a little peek at the absolute MUST HAVE products in my makeup bag, i.e. when they run out, I *must* repurchase … Immediately!

“I absolutely adore Dr Hauschka Rose Nurturing Body Lotion for my body but I also double it up as a hand lotion! I’ve used it for 2+ years now, and whenever my skin is feeling dry or flakey, this sorts it out within a day or two. Holy grail for sure!

“A newbie to my arsenal but the Essence Fresh & Fit Foundation is truly a FANTASTIC foundation; really good medium coverage, glowy and youthful, and if you prefer a mattified finish, just add a little powder. Lasting power is good too, around 8-10 hours! I find I don’t need concealer when I use this either.

“Initially I was skeptical, but the ELF Powder makes your base flawless, matte, but most importantly, BULLETPROOF. I take a generous amount and pat it over my base, then swipe off the excess. It might look a little powdery BUT the setting spray listed below alleviates any of that. Literally, nothing will budge your makeup with this combo.

“The BareMinerals bronzer is a really fab bronzer that is difficult to over-do or mess up. I use it with a big fluffy brush, and it gives a lovely, gently sun kissed finish that isn’t overly matte, or dewey either, just a perfect natural bronze. Very buildable and perfect for anyone who’s apprehensive about bronzer.

“My makeup isn’t complete until I have some sort of sheen on my cheekbones! My absolute must-have highlighter is the I Heart Makeup one in ‘Goddess of Faith’. I believe this brand is owned by Makeup Revolution? Very affordable and you’ll glow to the gods, but certainly not for the faint hearted!
“My theBalm Meet Matte Trimony eyeshadow palette eyeshadow palette has seen better days but I think you can tell how much I adore it! This is my ride-or-die eyeshadow palette, if I have this with me I can create any look I want.

“The Catrice Glam & Doll Volume & Curl mascara is, by a mile, the best mascara I’ve ever used, and it’s less than a fiver! I have good lashes anyway from using iGlow Long Lashes Serum, but this mascara has been my holy grail for years now. Amazing volume, holds the curl reasonably well, doesn’t flake or melt. LOVE!

“I’m not big on lip products, I don’t know why but I usually wipe them off within an hour of wearing them. I prefer a slick of lip balm to alleviate any dryness and my favourite is the Hurraw! moon balm. I buy mine from iHerb.com!

“I’ve used and loved more expensive setting sprays but the Makeup Revolution Setting Spray holds its own with the best of them and it’s only €7! I spritz this on my face (before applying mascara if I remember), then fan it off and it literally locks my face in place. The spritzer is even and doesn’t leave you with splotches of “wet” on your skin. Holy grail!

“I hope you enjoyed this little peek into my makeup bag of holy grail, cannot-do-without products!”
