Look out, here comes the Spiderman......but you'll have to wait another month

The most expensive show in the history of Broadway, featuring music by Bono and The Edge, is bringing down the curtain once more in an effort to get things right.

THE BELEAGUERED BROADWAY Spiderman musical is being revamped AGAIN.

Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark, the show which features music from Bono and The Edge, has been delayed no less than six times since its first previews last November, and it has never officially opened to the public. Now the lights have gone down on the musical once more. It’s taking almost a month-long break to regroup in an effort to win back the favour of the critics.

The show, which has already cost $70 million dollars has been plagued by problems from the start. There have been injuries, more injuries, delays and major personnel changes. Julie Taymor, the musical’s original director, finally left the production in March after producers demanded yet more tweaks to the show.

Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark will now continue with a new director, Broadway veteran Philip William McKinley and the story will be changed to make it less complex. Although the musical has been panned by critics who tainted it by blasting the “borderline incoherence of its storytelling” and “the sheer ineptitude” of the show, its preview takings at the box office have been increasing.

The newest version will also add new songs by Bono and The Edge, who have attended many of the previews since Christmas in an effort to identify where the problems lie.
