FANS OF NORMA Jeane Mortenson will know the significance of today’s date.

They’ll also remember her by the more familiar name of Marilyn Monroe.

Fifty years ago today, the body of the 36-year-old Hollywood icon was found in her house in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles.

Immortalised in an instant, her star has shown no sign of waning in the half century that has passed. Neither has her star power, with Forbes listing her as the third highest-earning deceased celebrity.
