Morrissey claims his official Twitter account is actually "bogus"

The ex-Smiths lead singer claims that a verified account isn’t him. Strangeways, here we come…

IT DID SEEM a bit odd: noted grumpface Morrissey joining 140-character club Twitter.

But then, he always did like being a bit awkward.

However, it now appears that the former Smiths frontman actually isn’t the person behind @itsmorrissey.

You might ask ‘what difference does it make?’, but it is rather embarrassing, given that the verified account (which has 284k followers so far) claims it’s “the official Morrissey Twitter page”.

Plus, its first tweet did look rather Moz-esque:

But today, the man himself took to his True to You site to say the following:

morrissey

Heaven knows he’s miserable now, eh?

The sweet and tender hooligan’s comment came just as the @itsmorrissey account had started to take a worryingly PR-savvy tone:

Hmmm.

Perhaps someone forgot to tell Moz that they started the account, or he grew a little tired of the sorts of replies he was getting.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before:
