One must have an iPad: Six things the Queen could do with her new gadget

Her majesty is understood to have placed an order for the tablet after being wowed by her grandsons’ gadget. We look at six things the Queen could do with her new toy.

QUEEN ELIZABETH HAS asked her staff to place an order for an Apple iPad after being wowed by her grandsons’ gadgets.

The Sun reports that Princes William and Harry gave her majesty a crash course in the touchscreen tablet and so impressed was she that she decided one simply must have one.

The paper quotes a Buckingham Palace insider as having said that the 85-year-old was very impressed by the tablet particularly at how light it is, how large the screen is, and how easy the device is to use.

The Queen is reported to already be the proud owner of two iPods including one given to her by US president Barack Obama when he came to London in 2009.

The Telegraph reports that the Queen upgraded to a Blackberry in 2007 and now has her own email address.

We thought we’d put together some ideas on what she could do with her new gadget when it arrives in the post:

1 / 6
  • Deliver the Christmas message via FaceTime

Apple's video chat software is now available on its latest version of the iPad. It means, the Queen could probably deliver her annual message from the comfort of her own bed.
  • Play 'AngriCorgis'

Okay so there isn't actually an app called 'AngryCorgis' yet but surely it's a good idea! Twitter user @paulmwatson says the Queen could "play Angry Corgis, the special edition Angry Birds featuring flying corgis aimed at commoners instead of pigs."
  • Buy tupperware off eBay

When the Daily Mirror infamously infiltrated the palace back in 2003 it was revealed, amongst other things, that the Queen is a big fan of tupperware and even eats her breakfast out of it. What better way to enhance her collection then to bid for cheap items on eBay.
  • Update her Facebook

The Queen launched a Facebook page last year and with ease her majesty could now update her status from her brand new tablet: "One's just getting to grips with this pesky touchscreen. LOL", perhaps?
  • Check out the form and place a few wagers...

The Queen is a well-known horse racing fan so you'd expect the Paddy Power app to be the first one she downloads before sticking a few quid on the 3.30 at Chepstow...
  • Catch up with the latest Britain's Got Talent contestants on YouTube

Entrants to the talent show are all currently slugging it out for a chance to perform in front of the Queen at the Royal Variety Performance later this year. Before she heads to the show she can check out the next Paul Potts or..eh...Stavros Flatley.
