It seems like just yesterday that The 40-Year-Old Virgin was released. The film propelled Steve Carell to stardom and taught men about the perils of waxing.

It also introduced Judd Apatow as a force to be reckoned with with “Apatow” having since become shorthand for R-rated comedies.

9. Brokeback Mountain, Walk The Line, Crash and Capote were out a decade ago

Brokeback Mountain was the drama of 2005 and eventually went into battle with Crash at the Academy Awards. (It lost.)

Meanwhile, Walk The Line and Capote were the buzzy biopics of the year with Reese Witherspoon and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman going on to win Oscars for their respective performances.
