God be with the days when novelty ringtones were something we spent money on. One of the most popular ringtones in 2005 was a little guy named Crazy Frog.

The evil genius behind the whole thing cashed in on the ringtone’s success and released a remix of Axel F. Lo and behold, it topped the charts everywhere. What were we like?

2. Ten years since Rihanna entered our lives for the first time

2015 marks ten years since Rihanna released her debut single Pon de Replay and changed our lives forever. The song charted highly across the world and Rih-Rih has since gone on to sell 190 million singles worldwide.

8. The 40-Year-Old Virgin is ten years old now

It seems like just yesterday that The 40-Year-Old Virgin was released. The film propelled Steve Carell to stardom and taught men about the perils of waxing.

It also introduced Judd Apatow as a force to be reckoned with with “Apatow” having since become shorthand for R-rated comedies.

9. Brokeback Mountain, Walk The Line, Crash and Capote were out a decade ago

Brokeback Mountain was the drama of 2005 and eventually went into battle with Crash at the Academy Awards. (It lost.)

Meanwhile, Walk The Line and Capote were the buzzy biopics of the year with Reese Witherspoon and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman going on to win Oscars for their respective performances.
