They only have Katy Perry signed up right now, and it’s just weeks away from the first auditions being recorded.

So Katy is essentially the face of the show – amid rumours that country singer Luke Bryan has turned down the chance to become judge number two.

Earlier this summer, Katy said that Rihanna would be one of her dream co-judges on the show.

Rihanna was asked about her link with American Idol over the weekend by ExtraTV: “would you be a judge?”

“Ohh, I don’t know. Depends on how bored I am.”

This new American Idol isn’t getting off to the best of starts.

It was a bit of a shady response given Katy Perry is the only name attached and she’s singled her out as a potential Idol judge – and you can watch it here:
