Royal wedding guests will be able to tweet live from Westminster Abbey

Police rubbish reports that signal blocking technology is being employed at Kate and William’s ceremony.

RUMOURS THAT THE mobile phones of guests attending tomorrow’s royal wedding will be blocked have been quashed by Scotland Yard.

A Yahoo! royal wedding blog indicated that Kate and William had arranged for phone signals to be blocked at Westminster Abbey, meaning that those in attendance would be unable to tweet updates from the service. It was reported that police had approved the measure.

However, CBS reports that Scotland Yard has said that it is unaware of any such signal-blocking technology being approved or installed, with a spokesperson calling the story “rubbish”.

The Register reports that O2 is even planning to provide additional base stations to cater for the 65 million images it expects will be uploaded to social networking sites throughout the wedding.

The news means that the likes of Mr. Bean, Elton John and Victoria Beckham, who are all invited to tomorrow’s ceremony, will be free to tweet away, if they so wish.

But if the guests chose to keep their phones in their bags, never fear, because TheJournal.ie’s very own columnist (Not) Cardinal Brady will be tweeting live from the wedding (well, live from in front of the telly) on our site from 11am tomorrow morning.
