Sarah Palin branded a 'Froot Loop' by Jamie Oliver

The former US vice presidential candidate has come under fire from the celeb chef.

SARAH PALIN HAS come in for criticism from celebrity chef Jamie Oliver after she criticised Barack Obama’s healthy eating initiatives.

Oliver has branded Palin a “Froot Loop” in reference to the highly sweetened breakfast cereal that is popular in the US, according to Press Association.

The former Alaska governor Palin had criticised Obama’s recent signing of a bill that provided extra money for free school meals and expanded a government nutrition programme.

She said it was a case of government meddling in an issue that should be up to the parent.

But Oliver has argued that getting kids to eat healthy food is a civil rights issue and that the Obama administration is on the right track in contrast to Palin who is “clearly on this issue is a Froot Loop”.

He added that the US is in a “really dark moment” when it comes to children’s health and needs to make it a priority.

Oliver tried to transform the diets of a West Virgina town in 2010 with his ABC show ‘Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution, but was met with considerable opposition:

He is currently filming a new version in Los Angeles but this is running into trouble with producers unable to secure permits to film in schools there according to the New York Times recently.
