IRISH ACTOR STUART Townsend and his former South African belle Charlize Theron are selling up their luxury Los Angeles beach pad – a final sign that there is little chance of the couple getting back together.

The two bought the beachfront home, near Malibu, in 2003 for the comparatively knockdown price of €2.5m – and spent many summer evenings surfing on the private beach adjoining the luxury pad.

The Pacific Coast Highway house has now gone up for sale, however – with the not inconsiderable asking price of $6.9m (around €4.9m) meaning that heartbreak has brought with it a considerable markup.

The pair split in January after a holiday to Mexico; Theron was reported to have told friends that the couple had become more like a brother and sister than a romantic couple.

Theron endeared herself to Irish fans last year when, in a practice run for the official draw for the 2010 FIFA World Cup taking place in her native South Africa, she read the name ‘Ireland’ instead of ‘France’ in the list of qualifying countries.
