Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren finalise divorce

The world’s number one golfer’s extramarital scorecard finally catches up with him.

WORLD NUMBER ONE GOLFER Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren have announced their divorce after almost six years of marriage.

The pair’s marriage fell apart in December after Woods was revealed as having been involved in a string of extra-marital affairs, which saw him lose a string of highly-paid endorsements.

Woods has since publically apologised for his affairs but his marriage to the Norweigan former model proved irreparable. Their marriage was dissolved in a court in Florida on Friday.

In a statement released through Woods’ website, the pair said:

We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future.

While we are no longer married, we are the parents of two wonderful children and their happiness has been, and will always be, of paramount importance to both of us.

Once we came to the decision that our marriage was at an end, the primary focus of our amicable discussions has been to ensure their future well-being.

The weeks and months ahead will not be easy for them as we adjust to a new family situation, which is why our privacy must be a principal concern.

It was reported earlier this summer that Woods and Nordegren had negotiated a $750m divorce settlement which would see Woods keep any further girlfriends away from their children, Sam (3) and Charlie (1).
