EVERY YEAR, THOUSANDS of people gather in the town of Bunol, Spain, to have a giant tomato fight.

The ‘Tomatina’ battle involves 130 tons (or six truckloads) of ripe tomatoes. Twenty thousand people turned up this year to hurl them at each other.

And the streets literally ran red:
