Gillian Anderson, generally being a badass in The Fall RTE
tv picks

What to watch on TV tonight: Sunday

Here are the shows that’ll be on your Twitter timeline later.

Every lunchtime, DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

The Fall (RTÉ One, 9.30pm)

Unquestionably the best drama on Irish TV continues tonight, with Gillian Anderson as Stella Gibson trying desperately to close the net around Jamie Dornan’s psychopathic serial killer Spector. If you don’t already have the fear tonight, this will instil it in you. (But in a good way.) #TheFall

Whose Holiday Is It Anyway (RTÉ One, 6.30pm)

Kids get a budget to take their parents on holiday, without mam and dad having the foggiest where they’re going. Basically the childhood dream: every day a theme park, every meal a McDonalds, parents in a living hell. Tonight’s episode sees two teenagers from Roscommon take their parents to Prague.

The X Factor Results (TV3, 8pm)

Only The Young got the boot last night, with crowd favourite/nemesis Stevi Ritchie bafflingly surviving the public vote. But the axe will fall again tonight. Twitter have announced an instant ban on anyone making puns about Stevi “still standing”. (OK, they haven’t, but we live in hope.) #xfactor

Everyone’s talking about: Tina Fey’s new Netflix sitcom

After taking over the world with 30 Rock, Tina Fey’s new venture is called Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. And it’s going straight to Netflix – in something of a coup for the online streaming service – after originally being intended for NBC.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt stars Ellie Kemper (Erin in The US Office) as a woman who escapes a cult to start a new life in New York City. Odd, but… look, we have faith in Tina Fey.

Or flick over for…

  • The Walking Dead (Fox, 10pm) The show’s biggest series yet continues.
  • I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here (3e, 10.30pm) Our Nadia is still in the jungle.
  • The Mekong River with Sue Perkins (BBC Two, 8pm) GBBO comedian takes a trip to the jungle. But what are the innuendo opportunities like?
  • Donnie Darko (Syfy, 9pm) All around me are familiar faces / worn out places / etc.
