What to watch on TV tonight: Thursday

Here’s the telly that everyone will be talking about tomorrow.

DailyEdge.ie rounds up the TV shows that you’ll be tweeting about tonight and talking about tomorrow.

U2 agus an Arc (RTÉ One, 7pm)

Before U2′s forthcoming performance in Croke Park, this documentary looks back at the band’s early years in the late 1970s, when the Dublin band connected with a loyal audience at the thriving “Downtown Kampus” gigs, run by students in UCC at the Arcadia Ballroom in Cork. Between 1978 and 1980, U2 played there about 10 times, and the performances are believed to have played an important part in their development.

The Mash Report (BBC Two, 10pm)

A new satirical series which sees comedian Nish Kumar present his take on the week’s news  - with a set up that looks kind of like The Daily Show in the States. With “a team of correspondents” keeping viewers up to date with everything that has happened – or not happened – this week. Interesting to see how this goes.

Naked Attraction (Channel 4, 10pm)

Anna Richardson presents the morto dating show in which two singletons choose their favourite from a line-up of potential dates who reveal themselves one body part at a time.

Everybody’s talking about… BBC presenter Dan Walker calling out The Sun for this story about his salary

The paper said it was “awkward” that he appeared on the list published yesterday but his BBC Breakfast co-host Louise Minchin did not:

But that didn’t take into account the numerous football shows Walker does, and he pointed out that they actually get paid the exact same for their work on the show:

And he even threw in a #FakeNews for good measure.

Or flick over for…

  • Who Do You Think You Are? (BBC One, 9pm) Clare Balding is the latest celebrity to go in search of her roots.
  • Love Island (3e, 9pm) More, more, more.
  • Dumb and Dumber To (RTÉ 2, 9pm) Premiere of the comedy sequel – which definitely doesn’t hit the lowbrow heights of the first installment.
  • Golf: The Open (BBC One 8pm) Highlights from the first day, and there is plenty of Irish in the field.
  • World Para Athletics Championships London 2017 (Channel 4, 7pm) Coverage from day seven at The London Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
