SO, THIS HAPPENED. Possibly the foremost purely technological achievement of our time is having a little chat with the foremost, er, ex-member of the Mickey Mouse Club.

Wait, that’s probably Justin Timberlake. Anyway – the Mars Curiosity Rover has been exchanging quips with Britney Spears.

And it called her Brit Brit. Proving that NASA scientists do, in fact, read Perez Hilton.

The video Britney sent was Oops I Did It Again. Which, as fans of the year 2000 will remember, featured her jigging about on Mars:
