U2 announce 'special' shows in Dublin as part of new world tour

The band said they would be playing their home town ‘at the end of next year’.

U2 HAVE ANNOUNCED dates for the world tour of their Songs Of Innocence album – including ‘special’ shows in Dublin at the end of next year.

The band will play 19 cities across Europe and the US during 2015, with tickets for all confirmed dates going on sale on December 8.

Neither Dublin nor Belfast currently feature on the confirmed itinerary. However, U2 said they would be playing “special shows” in Dublin to aid their Music Generation project, which aims to support music education in schools.

Each city currently confirmed on the schedule will host the band for either two or four shows. In a statement, Bono suggested the band would play different concerts on the different nights, saying:

We are going to try to have a completely different feeling from night one to night two and have some fun playing with the idea of innocence and experience. More to be revealed!
