TRANSPORT MINISTER LEO Varadkar and “half the Cabinet” have been freed by the army after they got stuck in a lift at Government Buildings
Varadkar, along with Phil Hogan, the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore , Alan Shatter, Jan O’Sullivan and Paul Kehoe were on their way up to Cabinet offices when a power cut left them stranded.
Varadkar tweeted:
The six were stuck for between 20 and 25 minutes before the army freed them.
This isn’t the first time a heap of Government ministers have been trapped in an elevator.
Back in 2007 the army was called in to rescue six of them – including Brian Cowen, Mary Harney and Dermot Ahern – when they got stuck in a Dáil lift in 2007.
Earlier this year the Health Minister James Reilly got stuck in a lift at the opening of a new HSE facility in Grangegorman.
