IT’S NO MEAN feat, but the Washington Post has just managed to make it sound like our bad weather is beautiful.
A photographer at the newspaper, Bill O’Leary, took a trip to Connemara and published a spread on the beauty of the area.
He described the area as having:
evanescent light and feisty winds, cloud-shrouded mountains and wonderfully wild seas, and rain and sun that come and go with remarkable haste.
You say ‘feisty’, we say ‘head-wrecking’.
The photographer explains that he and his wife got married in the area and returned to celebrate their 10th anniversary with friends.
At the end of each day’s adventure, we could retreat to our historic country-house hotel or head for a pub, where we basked next to a warm peat fire, drinking great muddy pints of porter, listening to local musicians.
Sounds idyllic.
