Watch: German throws out Christmas tree... and retains world title

Out with the old and in with the new…

NOTHING LIKE A bit of multi-tasking. A German has retained his world title for Christmas tree throwing while also taking care of the annual chore that is getting rid of the festive evergreen.

Frank Schwender from Frankeneck in southern Germany retained his title at the 10th Christmas tree tossing world championships in nearby Weidenthal, 3 News reports.

The 47-year-old retained his title by reaching a total distance of 20.3 metres after competing in the three different tree throwing disciplines – ‘Weitwurf’ (javelin-style), ‘Hammerwurf’ (hammer-style) and ‘Hochwurf’ (high jump-style).

Check it out:

Last month, we reported that Clare County Dog Shelter was hosting a tree throwing championship in order to raise funds for its organisation. But on the evidence above, competitors have a way to go before they can match the very best in Christmas tree throwing.
