WATCH: Surfer rides amazing 90 foot wave - a new world record?

Hawaiian Garrett McNamara rode the mammoth wave in Portugal yesterday.

SURFER GARRETT MCNAMARA is reported to have broken a world record for surfing the world’s tallest wave.

McNamara, a Hawaiian surfer, was surfing off the coast of Nazare, Portugal yesterday when he successfully negotiated the massive wave.  He had been towed into the rogue wave by another member of his surfing group.

The current Guinness World Record for the largest wave successfully surfed is currently held by American Mike Parsons, who surfed a wave estimed to be 77 feet high off the coast of southern California in 2008.
