Wear a short skirt: The American gal's guide to dating

US college student compiles book of ‘helpful’ tips on how to meet European men.

HEY, SINGLE GIRLS! Ever wonder where all the good men are gone? An American college student by the name of Katherine Chloe Cahoon is here to tell you where you’ve been going wrong.

Cahoon has written a book called The Single Girl’s Guide to Meeting European Men, based on her and her friends’ jaunts to various European countries. According to her official site, Cahoon’s mission is to give her readers the “inside scoops on man-meeting hotspots, and the insider’s do’s (SIC) and don’ts of dating European men when they read Katherine’s trendy, animated, story-filled book”.

Says Katherine herself:

Europe is a single girl’s dream. After having spent four summers there I was convinced millions of other American women would benefit from my experiences.

Some of the tips the Vanderbilt graduate imparts include never asking for ketchup when fine dining, perfecting ‘The Hair Flip’ to catch a guy’s attention and staying safe. (One of her friends accidentally ended up booking into a brothel. You’ll have to buy the book to find out more.)

When asked – again for her official site – about the chapter of the book entitled: ‘How to Wear What Gets The Guys”, and whether the formula isn’t as simple as “something tight, short and revealing”, Katherine said:

In Ireland, ‘yes’, but in other places, ‘no’.

A reviwer who liked her book on goodreads.com highlighted her tidbits about local customs, which the reviewer read as:

For example, it’s preferable to wear short skirts in Irish Pubs. Irish guys think that women who wear jeans and sweaters are not interested in meeting men.

Cahoon’s official summation of the Irish man?

Regardless of which part of this island Irishmen hail from, they are known for having a keen sense of humor, laughing, telling stories, hugging and connecting. They are extremely friendly in a social environment like a pub, the heart of Irish nightlife; however, during the day many of these gents hyper-focus on their work and are hard to engage.

Katherine is “currently working with producers to develop a screenplay for her book which they describe as Sex and the City meets Love Actually in the hot spots of Europe”.

While we wait for Katherine to hit the big screen, you can get a taster of her Guide with these video diaries starring the lady herself:

This next one has Katherine donning a tartan kilt to explain the attractions of Edin”burrow” festival:

This one has Katherine at Oktoberfest. Top tip? Accept beer from one guy and pass it on to a guy you like better:

Bon voyage!
