Saturday 

Interstellar (RTE 2, 9.05pm) Earth has been destroyed by an environment catastrophe and is left inevitably unable to support human life. A former astronaut is recruited to carry out a mission that involves piloting the last remaining spacecraft through a wormhole in an attempt to find another planet that can support the human race. 

The X Factor (Virgin Media One, 8.35pm) We all know we’re only watching it to see how young Brendan gets on. 

Strictly Come Dancing (BBC 1, 6.50pm) Check back in with the dancers as they attempt to avoid the chop tomorrow.

The Boy Next Door (Virgin Media One, 10pm) This is a thriller about an erotic affair that turns violent. A teacher hooks up with her younger neighbour and eventually decides it was a bad idea. He doesn’t think so. 

Ireland’s Fittest Family (RTE 1, 7.30pm) The show returns with Kathryn Thomas at the helm. Sit back with your curry and watch families do assault courses for fun. 

Blood (Virgin Media One, 11.50pm) The thriller continues.
