Where are all the pies? Meat ban brought in by vegan football club owner

The traditional half-time beef burger has had its day at Forest Green Rovers football club, as its vegan owner cuts red meat the from stadium menu.

HAMBURGERS, CHIPS, PIES and gravy – all meals you would traditionally associate with English football clubs.

But, the BBC reports, at the Forest Green Rovers football club in Gloucestershire, England, red meat is off the menu.

However, free-range chicken and fish from sustainable stocks are still available.

The beef-free menu was drafted by new owner Dale Vince, a vegan, after it was decided not to feed the team red meat for health and performance reasons.

Here in Ireland, we wonder if pitch-side chip vans might introduce a vegan lentil burger to their menus?

Or is a match at Croke Park just not the same without a hot dog in hand?
