Woman who killed cat in microwave jailed for 168 days

Gina Robins, a 31-year-old English woman, showed little remorse over the incident.

AN ENGLISH WOMAN who killed a cat by putting it in a microwave has been jailed for 168 days.

Gina Robins, 31, of Torquay in England, put the 10-week-old kitten into the microwave after falling out with a neighbour who owned the pet.

She was found guilty of causing unnecessary suffering to the animal and jailed today by a court in Devon.

Robins had asked to use her neighbour’s microwave to heat baby food for her 18-month-old son, the BBC reports.

However instead, she shut the cat into the microwave and turned it on.

The neighbour was alerted when she heard a “loud popping noise” and then a “horrendous screeching” coming from the kitchen.

As well as the jail sentence, Robins was banned from keeping animals for 10 years.

Robins and the neighbour, Sarah Knutton, had had a falling out before the incident when the cat-owner reported a former boyfriend of Robins to police over a separate incident earlier in the year, reports the Guardian.
