BACK WHEN BERNIE Sanders was a presidential hopeful, many observed the similarities (both physical and otherwise) between him and one Michael D Higgins.

The US Senator spoke at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin last night as part of the Dalkey Book Festival, giving an energetic interview in which he railed against President Donald Trump (and later announcing his support for the Repeal movement).
Before he did that, though, he paid a visit to the Áras with his wife Jane to meet his doppelganger.

It’s not know what they discussed, but nevertheless, the dream of a Michael D Higgins/Bernie Sanders friendship is very much alive:
