Newly shaven, he bumped into his mam at the local Sainsbury’s – but she didn’t see him. Or rather, she saw him, but just didn’t recognise him. At all.

In perfectly British fashion, she avoided all eye contact with the ‘mystery man’ haranguing her until Black’s girlfriend burst out laughing:

“F**king hell. I thought you were some weirdo! I was running away from you,” she can be heard saying in the video.

Black, a teacher, told the Lad Bible that his mam isn’t the only one having trouble with his new look – his pupils refuse to believe it’s the same person before them.

I still feel naked without my beard, regardless of whether every man and his dog has jumped on the beard bandwagon. I will be growing it back immediately.

A beard is a lifelong commitment. We know that now.
