2017 MAY ONLY be a few hours old, but we already have a contender for meme of the year.

Last night, the BBC enlisted none other than Robbie Williams to ring in the New Year with Robbie Rocks Big Ben Live on New Year’s Eve.

At one point, Williams wandered into the crowd to mingle with the great unwashed. After joining hands with fans for Auld Lang Syne, Williams took to the stage and immediately whipped out anti-bacterial gel.

Unfortunately for Williams, the moment was captured in all its glory on live television.

And it immediately became the most talked about moment on Twitter.

A fitting beginning to 2017, wouldn’t you say?
