What to watch on TV tonight: Monday

It’s the telly everyone will be talking about tomorrow.

Death and Nightingales (RTE 1, 9.35pm)

A brand new period drama starring Jamie Dornan starts tonight. Set in 1883 Co Fermanagh, Beth Winters decides to join Liam Ward to escape her life and Protestant landowner stepfather Billy. The story is based on the Eugene McCabe novel, and set over 24 hours. 

The School (RTE 2, 11.15pm) 

This mockumentary is set in a Co Cork primary school and examines the loves and lives of the teachers that work there. 

First Dates (Channel 4, 10pm)

It’s still going, and it’s better than ever. Songwriter Kristina meets wedding photographer Nicola, but they end up going overboard on the drink. Geeky James has a date with Holly, and Billy tries to win over a MUA, Olivia.

Everyone’s talking about… Big Little Lies

We’re still dying for season two of Big Little Lies, but it might be our last. According to Nicole Kidman, we shouldn’t hold out hope. Speaking to Variety magazine, Nicole doesn’t sound to promising about the prospects. 

I think it would simply be hard to get the whole group together. But we would love to do it. 

Ok, we forgive you, just give us season two now.

The Podge and Rodge Show (RTE 2, 10.40pm) Kim Woodburn, and popstar Lemar are on tonight, it’s bound to be a mad one.

Babies, Their Wonderful World (BBC 2, 9pm) A look at the world through a baby’s eyes. 

Tina Turner, Simply the Best (BBC 1, 11.10pm) The life and times of the legendary singer.
