Pink was the best colour, but you’d go for brown at a push. Extra points if they had a little diamanté heart somewhere.
2. A pointless skinny scarf
You probably got it free with Mizz magazine. Delighted, you were.
3. Bandanas
Just like Mary-Kate and Ashley!
4. A stack of about 40 jangling glittery bangles
Get them in Penneys, plop them on, promptly regret it when everyone can hear you coming from about a mile away.
5. ‘Karma’ bracelets
Each different colour would bring some form of ‘healing’ into your life. Whether you were ever healed, you cannot say.
6. Earrings with neon, jelly-like spikes on them
Punk rock!
7. Shutter shades
Where Kanye West lead, a surprising number of us followed. No really, why did we follow?
8. Ridiculously huge ‘waist-cinching’ belts
We’re blaming Trinny and Susannah. (Remember Trinny and Susannah?)
9. Keffiyeh scarves, folded perfectly
Worn with no regard for the actual weather.
10. Fingerless gloves
Again, not because you were cold. Because ~fashion~.
11. Studded belts
Maybe two at a time, and buckled to the side if you were REALLY emo.
12. Cutesy hair bows
Just popped on your head like that.
13. A bobbin made of fake hair
Sounds nightmarish, dystopian even, but it was a very real item that many of us sported regularly. Sick and wrong.
14. Sweatbands around your wrists
Were you doing sports? No. In fact, you were actively trying to not sweat. And still!
15. Trilbys and fedoras
Funky.
16. And an elastic band around your head, like so
That mushroom-y poof of hair it produced on top of your head was much desired. For some reason.
Given fashion’s penchant for recycling, we reckon these will all be back on trend by about, oh, 2018? So don’t throw them out just yet. You can thank us later.
