CHINESE DIVER HE Zi won a silver medal in the Olympic 3m springboard final in Rio last night.
Just as she left the podium and started her lap of honour around the pool, her boyfriend and fellow Chinese Olympian Qin Kai got down on one knee to propose.
And she said yes
While many have called the proposal “romantic” and celebrated the moment, others haven’t been quite so enthusiastic.
In fact, the backlash has been strong
With some saying her big moment that she’s been training for all these years has been totally overshadowed

Despite what people have been reading into her reaction, there’s no evidence to suggest that both aren’t totally delighted with the outcome
But really, it’s the fact that it was after a fantastic personal achievement that seems to have raised the ire the most
