blue is the warmest colour

People are going mad for this blue prosecco, but all we're seeing is WKD

That’d go down well in a chilly field, wouldn’t it?

DRINKING SUGARY blue drinks is a rite of passage for Irish teenagers. Ever dreamed of recreating that experience now that you are a fancy shmancy grownup? Now you, er, can.

Wine brand Saraceni has created a ‘blue prosecco’, which recently became available here in Ireland.

The blue stuff is a combination of prosecco, peach, and blue curacao – but it has attracted the ire of wine snobs for having only 7% alcohol content (wine is supposed to be 10%).

Nevertheless, people are extremely interested in the concoction. Here’s how the company proudly describes the drink on their website:

We wanted to create something very special, excellent and unique that has not been created before, changing the colour to a vibrant blue and making the champagne sweeter and easier to drink…

But we can’t help but think of something else we know that is blue, sweet, and easy to drink.

Do they know their fancy prosecco is the exact hue of a sugary drink favoured by teenagers in fields across the UK and Ireland?

It sounds like they don’t, because they have rather classy suggestions for how to drink it:

Ideal for memorable events, excellent as an aperitif, for a wedding toast, engagement party, with desserts as well as for cocktails, or simply on its own.

A bottle of the stuff is €20, and it’s available to order from the Saraceni website. Or you could catch a hold of yourself and pick up a timeless blue alcopop in Tesco. Same deal.
