Dublin supermarket's Butchers in the Buff calendar raises a small fortune for charity

JC Savage’s in Swords are delighted to have reached their target.

YOU MAY RECALL that over Christmas JC Savage’s Supermarket in Swords, County Dublin sold a very special calendar.

The Butchers in the Buff calendar featured exactly that, the supermarket’s butchery staff, sans clothes.

The sale of the calendars is now finished, and Rose Ryan, manager of the much-loved supermarket said they’re delighted with the result:

As of finishing up last week we’ve raised €20,000 which was our goal.

We’ve been in touch with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and are looking forward to handing over a cheque next week or the week after.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation specialises in helping seriously ill children have their wishes granted, whether that means a day as a fireman or a trip to Disneyland.

Susan O’Dwyer, Chief Executive of Make-A-Wish Ireland, told DailyEdge.ie that the money raised will be a big help:

The Butchers in the Buff Calendar has been a huge success and a wonderful initiative. We are grateful to JC Savages butchers  for their support and dedication in reaching their target to raise €20,000 Euro for Make-A-Wish Ireland.

We already have over 150 eligible wishes  to grant in 2014 and rely on support such as this to help us grant the wishes of children living with life-threatening medical conditions.

Good work all ’round!  We can’t wait to see next year’s effort.  Starkers shelf-stackers, perhaps?
