Stop everything, there's a Captain Planet movie in the works

Looting and polluting is not the way, here’s what Captain Planet has to say!

THERE ARE CARTOONS and then there are cartoons and Captain Planet definitely falls into that elite category.

After being one of the biggest kids TV shows of the 90s there are now plans to bring Captain Planet (and presumably the Planeteers) to the big screen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures are in the final negotiations to get the rights to the iconic series for a proposed feature film.

Apparently early attempts to create a film in the late 90s and then a live-action TV series in the 2000s failed to take hold.

We are very excited about this news and may have sang this acapella on hearing it:

We’re just hoping that there are some impressive celeb cameos like when they had Sting, Meg Ryan and Whoop Goldberg on board:

Hopefully Captain Planet in live action looks a tad more convincing than this:

And we’re sure Don Cheadle is in consideration for the role after these infamous skits:

Or will they head to Belfast for some terrible accents in the vein of this:

We’re just ready for more important pollution related lessons such as the following:
