THE WORLD SPUN a little bit off of its axis last night with the news that Pretty Little Liars’ star Ashley Benson seemed to be dating model and actress Cara Delevingne.
Yesterday, paparazzi photographs of the pair kissing outside London’s Heathrow Airport emerged and fans were shocked:

But should we have picked up on the clues earlier? An Instagram investigation leads us to think that we missed some vital hints.
Way back at the beginning of summer, on 3rd May, Ashley shared a fuzzy photograph of the pair in a car.
This was the first time that it was known that the pair knew each other.
The caption was innocent enough…
But the emojis at the end might have had a hidden meaning.
Back in 2016, there was a phase when people used fruit emojis to signal what their relationship status was. Cherries meant that you were ‘in a relationship’.
Hmmm….
Cara and Ashley were in New York at the time filming ‘Her Smell’. The movie also features Elizabeth Moss, Amber Heard, model Agyness Deyn and Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens.
Just over two weeks later, the day after filming for Her Smell ended, Ashley posted another photo of them hanging out.
Two days later, Ashely posted a picture of herself atop of a sky-rise building in New York. There’s a figure behind her, whose face is blocked by Ashley, but the dark, heavy eyebrows and the bleached blonde cropped haircut is unmistakably distinctive.
That was the last picture of the two of them together on social media.
The next clue was very subtle, but a big clue nonetheless. Ashley began to wear a new piece of jewellery – a teeny-tiny, delicate ‘C’ on a small chain.
She first posted a pic of herself wearing it on June 24th…
And on July 14th…
Her most recent Instagram selfie, taken 4 days ago, displayed the ‘C’ initial but there was addition of her own initial.
While Cara’s page gave absolutely nothing away, Ashley’s Instas hinted that there was a love blossoming in her life.
On July 30th she posted this…
On August 3rd…
And on August 5th…
It looks to us like love is truly in the air.
The movie the pair were filming together will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival at the beginning of September, so we mightn’t have to wait long to see if they’re red carpet official.
