10-year-old drives parents' car into a ditch, claims to be a dwarf who'd forgotten his licence

Ah, the old dwarf defence…

A 10-YEAR-OLD BOY in Norway deserves some brownie points for quick-thinking after he drove his parents’ car into a ditch.

At some point last night the boy decided that he wanted to go to his granny and grandad’s, so be popped his 18-month-old sister into his parents car and got behind the wheel.  He only managed to drive about 10 km of the 60km journey from Dokka to Valdrews before he veered off the road into a snowy ditch, Reuters reports.

The pair were discovered by a snowplow driver and according to a spokesman for the Vest Oppland police district, the boy had a quick explanation:

The boy told the snowplow driver that he was a dwarf and that he had forgotten his driver’s license at home.

Apparently there were no charges filed and the police are confident that the children’s parents will keep a very close eye on their children and their car keys in future.
